Galway was great! The majority of the population were between about 18-28 year olds, there were heaps of pubs, shops, cafes and pedestrianised streets. Our hostel was in a fantastic location and was really good. It was a really vibrant and fun city. The population is about 65,000 so not too big, probably our number one city to go to live in if we were going to do hospitality work.
Galway didn't have much in the way of big sights to see, but we easily filled a day wandering around the streets and seeing the river, lochs, and churches etc. There is a great central square that is always full of people hanging out.

Both evening we went out to pubs for Guinness and live traditional music. We had a really good time, the Guinness is really good in Ireland (even in the UK its not actually brewed in Ireland and is not the same). We encountered some pretty broad Irish accents, and a lot of people with pale skin and ruddy cheeks.
We went to Aran Islands for a night (see next post) and came back to Galway for an afternoon. We went to a good farmers market that had lots of tasty food. The weather was pretty good for most of the time which was pretty lucky.
